Updating the Site

This site has been running on a Drupal 5 codebase for quite some time. This morning I took the time to upgrade to Drupal 6.8 then upgraded to the lastest version of the Acquia Network Community Server.

So far it's gone well and has been relatively drama free. There are some older Drupal 5 modules that I need to update to get full functionality back so if you see any issues please use the contact form to drop me a note and let me know.

thanks

Drupal 6 Released

I know that I hadn't blogged about the Drupal 6 RC4 version due to work related issues but who cares.

Drupal 6 is now an offical release. What did it take? Over a year of development and over 1600 issues resolved. You can read more about the release here.

I've got a version of this site running an earlier release candidate so migrating over will be coming soon. The biggest issue will be getting the theme ported over.

Drupal 6 Release Candidate 2

Drupal 6 RC2 has now been released.

This release is fairly stable and while it may not be ready for a production site it's pretty rock solid.

For more information about this release and/or Drupal 6 please read more here.

Drupal 6 Release Candidate 1

Drupal 6 RC1 has now been released.

The changes from the last beta version are improved embedded developer documentation, strengthened several update functions to ensure that updates are properly applied for Drupal core and contributed modules, revised most user help text and form descriptions to be more understandable and accurate, made user logins more secure, improved right to left language support for several features, and improved table indexes to help with referential integrity and improve performance.

For more information about this release please read more here.

Drupal 6 Code Freeze

Formal announcement tomorrow on the Drupal website but it looks as though Drupal 6 is frozen as of today.

It looks as though it's time to fix bugs and QA the hell out of it.

If you haven't started testing your modules against the 6.x code base then go grab a copy of the development snapshot of Drupal 6 and help us test.

Disclaimer/Warning

This is not stable, and production sites should not run this code.
